Participating Hospitals


10 hospitals currently are participating in the ARHC. Rural hospital interested in joining have the opportunity to apply each year.

Northwest Medical Center – Winfield, Ala.

This 71-bed hospital serves approximately 2,500 inpatients and 60,000 outpatients annually. Over 60 privately practicing physicians treat and refer patients to Northwest, and 26 physicians and three nurse practitioners practice fulltime in the area. Northwest is accredited by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

Hale County Hospital – Greensboro, Ala.

This 28-bed, short-term acute care facility offers services such as outpatient physical therapy, inpatient care, home health services, and swing beds, and it operates two satellite outpatient primary care clinics.

Mizell Memorial Hospital – Opp, Ala.

This hospital is licensed for 99 beds and currently has an operating capacity of 59 beds. Its medical staff includes physicians and surgeons practicing in family medicine, pediatrics, radiology, gynecology, and general surgery. Its 200-plus employees are committed to its mission of providing quality health care with hometown compassion.

Lakeland Community Hospital – Haleyville, Ala.

This 58-bed, short-term acute care facility offers services such as physical therapy, inpatient care, home health services, various imaging services, and swing beds. It is one of only five hospitals in Alabama with a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which ranks hospitals based on mortality, safety of care, readmissions, patient experience, effectiveness of care, timeliness of care, and medical imaging.

Whitfield Regional Hospital – Demopolis, Ala.

This 99-bed, short-term acute care facility offers services such as surgery, radiology, physical therapy, home health services, health care on wheels, medical detoxification, and behavioral health.

Regional Medical Center of Central Alabama – Greenville, Ala.

This 72-bed, short-term acute care hospital employs over 100 providers and offers services such as orthopaedics, swing beds, diagnostic imaging, women’s health, and sports medicine, and it operates a medical-surgical intensive care unit.

J. Paul Jones Hospital – Camden, Ala.

This 30-bed, short-term acute care facility offers a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency care, swing bed rehabilitation, laboratory services, radiology, ultrasonography, mammography, and respiratory services. It also operates eight retirement apartments and two satellite primary care clinics.

Russell Medical – Alexander City, Ala.

Russell Medical is an 81-bed, acute care facility with physicians covering 28 medical specialties, and includes: all private rooms, LDR birthing suites, interventional cardiology, transitional care unit, comprehensive therapy and  rehabilitation services, retail pharmacy, sleep center, and 24/7 Emergency Department. The 52-acre campus is home to the hospital, cancer center, urgent care center, wound care center, professional office complex, and future site of the Benjamin Russell Center for Advanced Care and Sterling Gate senior living community. Russell Medical’s recent technology upgrades include surgical and orthopedic robots and new 3D mammography system. 

Hill Hospital of Sumter County – York, AL

This 33- bed acute care facility offers services such as a 24 hour Emergency Room, a Blood Bank, Laboratory, Radiology Imaging Services, Swing Bed, In- Patient Care, Out-Patient Care, Orthopedics, and Psychiatry.

Greene County Hospital – Eutaw, AL

This 20-bed short-term acute care facility offers a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency care, swing bed rehabilitation, laboratory services, radiology, ultrasonography, computed tomography (CT) scans, drug addiction treatment, and home health services. It operates under the Greene County Health System that also encompasses a Nursing Home and a Rural Health Clinic.
